Death to Should! I gave a training earlier in the year and ranted about the use of the word Should.

In response, Steven Perchikov wrote up a classic post on his blog here:
http://steven.humanoperatingsystem.org/2009/05/01/should-gets-served/
(warning - illicit language used).

As a modal operator (indication of the mode of operation you want to express) should is rarely worthwhile. More often than not if I want to imply the necessity to do something to my son or anyone else I just use imperatives in my tone with a strong downward command. "Do it." Or I upgrade should into NEED. As in, you need to do this now.

Go Zen Mommy. Every word counts.

I've definitely been more conscious of it since hangin with the ZM and Michaela Turner, our resident Yogi Parenting expert.

Jeni, I've been listening to Louise Hay audio for the last few days! Love that book too. :)

I love the tip. I have been eliminating "should" since I read "You Can Heal Your Live." The suggestion really resonated with me. I'm going to employ the other ones too, thanks!
