Recently, I had the chance to sit in on a lecture series called Girls In the Know. The program was started by a mom of pre-teen who wanted a forum to address all the topics that are sometimes difficult to address with your daughters. In this session, on Safety, Officer Kimberly Huffman addressed staying safe online and off as well.
In the second in our series on Empowering Our Kids produced in partnership with Myself Belts, Michaela Turner, certified YogaKids instructor and veteran educator talks about how supporting their independence goes a long way.
Think about yourself and when you’ve experienced a sense of accomplishment. Did you finish a half-marathon? Did you learn Spanish? Or think back to your childhood to that time in the second grade when you won the spelling bee. That “so big” feeling that you see on your child’s face when they can say, “I did it myself!” isn’t that foreign, is it?
How can we gift them with that feeling? How can we create those moments for your youngsters that they’ll be able to remember for a long, long time?
