Pregnancy and Exercise

You want what every pregnant woman wants… a happy, healthy BABY and a happy, healthy YOU, right? Well, Michelle Ladd and Laura Flynn, co-authors of The Fit and Healthy Pregnancy Guide will help you do that by avoiding the research-proven Top Five Fears of Pregnant Women:

1. I will have a miscarriage
2. There’s something is wrong with my baby
3. I will have a painful delivery and/or c-section
4. I will be fat and never fit back into my pre-baby jeans.
5. I will have horrible stretch marks

How can Michelle and Laura help you? They can help by dispelling myths and misinformation around these topics and arm you with what you can do to improve your chances for a safe, healthy pregnancy and delivery.

FACT: Although some of the causes for miscarriages are a mystery, there is strong evidence that the overall health and well-being of the mother play a major role. A holistic approach to exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle are the key factors.

FACT: Proper pregnancy nutrition, with particular attention to crucial vitamins and minerals, will greatly reduce the causative factors of birth defects, including low birth weight and poor fetal development. Pregnancy-specific exercise programs will increase the chances for an optimal labor, reducing the chances of learning disabilities.

FACT: The combination of holistic pregnancy exercise and nutrition will keep you strong and healthy, increasing the chances for an easier, shorter labor experience.

FACT: Current exercise and nutrition guidelines for pregnant women are outdated and will actually make you FAT! There is a better way. By eating the proper food, in the proper amounts (no starving), you can gain a modest 20-25 pounds (our guideline for women of average build), and lose all of it (and more) within a few short months after delivery.

FACT: A healthy, modest weight gain of 20-25 pounds, combined with a sound pre- and post-natal exercise program, will ensure that you gain the weight slowly and lose it quickly. This puts less stress on your skin, and greatly reduces the occurrence of stretch marks. A holistic pregnancy nutrition plan will keep your skin (the largest organ of your body) healthy, and resistant to developing stretch marks.

Sure, there are many things in life that you cannot control but the fact is that your overall health and well-being affects the health of your baby. In The Fit and Healthy Pregnancy Guide, Laura Flynn, RD and Michelle Ladd, RD will provide a step-by-step, easy to follow, holistic approach to exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle… all the key factors that will result in a healthy BABY and healthy YOU. “As an experienced fitness professional, I thought I knew everything about pregnancy exercise and pregnancy nutrition. How wrong I was! The FHP Guide opened my eyes to key changes that made a huge difference in the way I look and feel. Even in the late stages of my pregnancy, I felt functionally strong, in great posture, and without the aches and pains that so many of my pregnant friends think is normal.

Thanks so much.”
