How To: Fresh Neutral Face in 5 Minutes

With the arrival of each season, comes new and exciting make-up to play with. And while there are plenty of remarkable purple hues for fall, the right neutrals are essential to get you from day to day.

If you’re like me, you don’t have a ton of time for make-up application each morning. Flattering hues and easy-to-use products (with stay-put-ability) are a must.

I’ve made some fantastic additions to my cosmetics bag for fall. These items have become indispensable … I couldn’t live without them.

The players:

Simply apply a light neutral eye shadow all over your lid. Take a darker neutral color and apply in the crease and shade down. If you want to add eyeliner, line your upper lid up against the lash line and smudge in to blend. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes (or skip bottom lashes for a more natural look). Smooth a tinted moisturizer or mineral foundation over your skin in just the areas you need. Then, swipe your lips with a sheer lipstick (add another layer for more intense color). Voilà!

Sure, I still have lots of brilliant color in my cosmetics bag. However, more days that not, I am reaching for my tried and true neutrals. With selections like these, you will, too.

  1. Where’s the picture of the finished product – the girl’s face with the make up on?

  2. Now that would be a good one, Holly … though, I didn’t think you’d want to see a pic of me!

  3. Of course we want to see a pic of you, Catherine! You are our style expert. But here’s a pic of me after applying some of the tips. I had professional help from my sis, who is a makeup artist.

  4. Ria, you are so gooorrrgeous!!!! I will take a pic once I finish up with clients!

  5. Okay, Ria … here’s your pic. Eyes closed … otherwise, you can’t see the eye shadow 🙂
