Ria, I had a doula with my last baby born in Dec. 1997. It was an awesome experience. I was at MoBap. I had no drugs or an epidural and when the nurses came in to tell me to keep it down because I was yelling with labor pain, my doula, Zaire Imani, said to the nurses “She can scream if she wants to. She’s having a baby” and I kept right on yelling. It was so great to have an advocate there.

I am brand new to this group and do not know anyone yet, but what a neat way to meet people! I will be there if my new baby boy will allow me to be! Being 5 months old he can be kind of demanding though so if I am not you know why. In any case I send my congratulations and hope to start meeting new friends soon!!

This sounds awesome! I am currently taking care of my nephews 5 month old daughter since he & his wife are going through a rough time and my kids are older (19, 16 & 14) and I don’t really have all of the baby essentials that I need since I gave all of my stuff away years ago. Baby products/furniture is SO expensive. I’d love to win one of these items. Thanks for the great opportunity!!!

    Hi,

I noticed the question posted earlier asking about the use of computer games for toddlers. It is such a great question because as a parent it is hard to know what is really best for a child’s development.

As an early brain development awareness specialist…. my passion is to share scientific brain information in real and practical ways. And what I love to share most is……. the best way to make brain connections is through fun interaction with real objects and loving interactions with real people! Learning is best when all senses are used!. Isn’t it great to know that you are your child’s favorite toy!

A report from The National Scientific Council on the Developing child, states:

“Although a varied array of experiences clearly stimulates learning in the preschool years, promotional statements about the superior brain building impacts of expensive “educational” toys and videos for infants and toddlers have no scientific support.”

    Have fun!
